Sanitation & Recycling
The City of Columbus Junction contracts with an outside waste management company for solid waste collection and recycling. Residents within the community are required to have garbage and recycling collection.
For questions specific to trash or recycling pick up, please call the waste management company directly.
The City has contracted with Wemiga Waste for trash/recycling collection.

Did you know that placing non‑acceptable items in the recycling cart (the cart with the green lid) can contaminate the entire truckload? When this happens, the whole load must be thrown away instead of recycled.
Please keep the following in mind:
• Only place approved items in the recycling cart
• Contaminated recycling loads cannot be processed and must be scrapped
• If you receive a warning tag or letter for improper items, your cart may be removed
• Sanitation charges will still apply even if your cart is pulled
• Reviewing the Recycle Right flyers can help prevent issues

Pick Up Days and Times
Trash and recycling will be picked up every Wednesday. Please have your carts out by 6:00 am to ensure pick up.
